Your puppy will come to you in an
airline approved shipping crate. There will be bowls in there
that contained
food and water when it left here. It will have a soft toy and shredded paper
bedding.
We try to send a blanketor piece of fleece that has been in with the
litter so that it
has something that smells like its family to try to ease the
transition from our home to yours.
We ship COD only, that way you know
that you are only paying for shipping and not
getting ripped off by us. We
usually use Northwest airlines and ship out of Sioux Falls, SD.
I will be able
to give you an approximate shipping cost before we ship, and will then be able
to give you an exact cost after I deliver the puppy to the airport. We do only
ship to the
US and Canada. The cost is usually around $200.00, depending on where the
puppy is going
and the size of the crate. We do occasionally use Delta airlines
also, it depends on
where you live and what is more convenient for you.
There are a few rules we must follow
when we ship using an airline. Your puppy must be at least
8 weeks old at the
time of shipment. If your puppy is 12 weeks or older, it must have a
rabies
vaccination. Your puppy will have been examined by our veterinarian.
If you are getting a bulldog, it cannot be over 75 degrees or less than 10
degrees at any
stop along the way (usually Minneapolis and/or Cincinnati). If you are getting
Dane or a Basset, it cannot be over 85 degrees
or less than 10.
At the time your puppy ships it will
have had all age appropriate vaccinations. We use
Fort Dodge's Duramune Max 5 and Duramune Max 5 CvK/4L for our 6
and 8
week shots. Your puppy should only need a rabies vaccination when you get
it, if it is not 12
weeks or older when it ships. After that it will need a
distemper booster and a rabies booster
in a year. Some areas recommend other
vaccinations, depending on what is prevalent in your area,
please check with
your vet to see what they recommend.
It will have been wormed using
Pyrantel wormer. Most puppies have worms and we recommend
worming it again
about 2 weeks after you get it, and then every six months.
You will get an envelope containing
all vaccination and health information in your puppy packet.
Your puppy packet will also contain
info on the breed you selected, crate training,
dog/puppy food, and general
“helpful hints” for your new family member!
(if only ALL babies came with an
instruction manual)! All puppies are different though,
and sometimes you just
have to do whatever works!
We are here for the lifetime of your
puppy and if we do not know the answer to a question
right away, we will find it
out for you. We do not claim to be experts and are still learning also! |
